Art at Lake City Museum Show

Two paintings from my Coffee Series are currently on show in Lake City at the Bean Market Museum. The city is having their Heritage Music and Art Festival all week.

These were favorites from the solo shows I had at The Richland County Public Library and at Gotham on Main in 2010. This painting is "Visual Passion" and the other one on display is it's co-ordinating piece named "In a Stew"(not pictured here) Both pieces are mixed media featuring my watercolor women in a photographic image painting into the mixed media coffee inspired collage on 30x24 museum quality thick sided wall canvas. They will be permanently displayed at a prominent office in Lake City.

In addition to my art, you can see lovely artwork created by other prominent SC artists such as
painter Stephen McCrea, Cigar Box Guitars created by Brandon Cooper, Woodz Art by Ann Page, furniture created using ancient cypress by L. P. Rogers, a huge oil painting of heaven by Adam Dial, paintings by Lynda Engish, Gaye Ham, Jane Jackson, Neil A McClendon, Jr. , interesting sculptures creating fun functional furniture pieces by Alex Palkovich, paintings by Jackie Wukela and a wonderful wood sculpture painting by Tiffany Thomas.

The First Picture (at top) was at the reception held this past Wed. evening Sept. 21, 2011; Tiffany Thomas created a live painting on fellow artist and model Symon Gibson. They had a backdrop canvas which they created a Jackson Pollack meets Van Gogh, with Stephen in front being painted into the picture! It was wonderful to watch.

Yours Truly,
Jean Bourque

Painting to Jackaroe Band at Utopia tonight!

It's Julia Beckham's birthday and her band Jackaroe will be playing at Utopia on Rosewood Dr. in Columbia tonight! The fun starts at 830 and goes until 11 ish! I will be painting live to their music. The band wants to do a live recording and needs everybody to come out and show their love in honor of Julia's birthday!

These are just two of the paintings I have painted to their music in the past few months. The top one was done at Utopia on St. Patricks Day and the brightly colored one was done at The Music Fest at Art Bar July 4th weekend along with the Jackaroe band and finished to the Stillhouse band.

If you have never heard the Jackaroe band, it's time you did!

Hope to see you all there!

Yours truly,
Jean Bourque

ARTISTS CHALLENGE OF THE MONTH

ARTISTS: Challenge Your Emotions, Challenge Your Art
Artistic Emotions… are you in touch? Out of touch? Do your emotions rule your art? Do they rule your world? Do you paint with emotion? Or do you paint strictly verbatim, as in photographically with no emotion? What is your style? Do you paint in solitary confinement or do you engage your family and friends in your creations?
Share your emotions or be bottled up, the choose is yours! CHALLENGE YOURSELF AND YOUR ART...

Are you up to the CHALLENGE?

Most of my art is highly emotional, portraying anything from love to anger, happiness to fear... and sometimes the unknown is revealed to me and I have an epiphany. The spirits are good to me and my artistic muse seems to be ever present challenging me to press onward with writing and artistic endeavors. Today, I am filled with joy to share this tidbit about creativity with the world.  yours Truly, Jeanee
