Only South Carolina Watermedia Society members may enter the exhibition. (A SCWS member must be a SC resident and/or property owner or past SCWS member who no longer lives in SC but maintained their membership with no lapses.) Members may join at the time of show entry.
Entry Requirements:
Each eligible artist may submit one digital image (JPEG format) that complies with the criteria. Entries must be original work, executed in watermedia; however other mediums in conjunction with watermedia are also acceptable, (oils and water soluble oil paints excluded) completed within the last three years, and not exhibited in a previous SCWS annual juried exhibition.

Size, Mats & Glazing, Requirements:
Upon selection, painting must be presented, wired and ready for hanging, in the designated frame (details below.) Mats (if used) must be white, off-white or pale grey. Maximum size is 48" in either direction, including the frame for paintings that are under Plexiglas/acrylic or 38” x 43” maximum for those paintings on canvas, masonite, clayboard, etc. without Plexiglas/acrylic. Maximum depth (with frame) is 2 ½” and maximum weight is 25 lbs.

Plexiglas/acrylic glazing (glass is not permitted) needs to be 1/8” thick and must be used for all pieces on paper or paper-like products. Canvas or other than paper surfaces do not have to be under Plexiglas/acrylic; however, they can not be larger than 38” x 43”, including the frame. If you choose to frame a canvas piece with Plexi/acrylic, then the maximum size may be up to 48”. Canvas pieces without Plexiglas have this size limitation due to the size of the special boxes that SCWS will use for the Traveling Exhibit.

Framing:
Accepted paintings must use the following frame: Depending upon the painting size, a ¾” - 1 ½” width (preferable) or maximum 2” width flat-face museum style wood frame in a natural (light) color. Details will be included in your acceptance notification.

Jury Process:
Entries will be juried from digital images (JPEG on CD) only. Image resolution at approx. 1024 x 768 pixels. Pixel number will vary according to length & width of image. After the overall exhibit is selected, awards will be juried from original works.

Submit one JPEG file on CD (compact disk.) Image must appear correctly (vertical or horizontal.) SCWS will not rotate images. The image should not include the frame, artist name or painting title. Inoperable CDs will be disqualified. Write your first and last name on the CD. Disks will not be retuned.

Jury Result Card & Entry Card
Complete and include the Jury Result Card & Entry Card (PRINT NEATLY.) Include a self-addressed and stamped #10 business envelope. Do not include the Identification Card. Retain it and attach it to the back of your painting, if selected.

Artist Responsibility
Artists may not substitute another work for an accepted work, nor withdraw the work once it has been accepted or remove it during the exhibition. Artists who do not submit their selected entry for the exhibition will not be allowed to enter another SCWS exhibition for 3 years.

While the juror has the final responsibility to select the exhibition and awards, the exhibition committee reserves the right to reject any work deemed inappropriate. By submitting a painting to this exhibition, the artist accepts all conditions as set forth in this prospectus. If a painting sells. the artist understands that there is a 30% commission The artist gives SCWS permission to photograph and video tape their entry and use it for educational or promotional purposes.
