Traditional Portrait Artists Wanted Columbia, SC

The Cultural Council is partnering with the Capital City Club on a Governors Portrait program. Please read the attached press release. The Club is seeking a “traditional” portrait artist to paint a work of 4 feet by seven feet plus/minus that will show the four SC Governors since 1988. Governors Beasley, Hodges, Sanford and Haley in a group setting most likely around a desk. The Club commissioned a large oil (artist name of Gorki –before my time) that depicted the 8 living ex-Governors at that time.
Interested artists should email me one (1) image that represents their portrait work plus a short bio. A Capital City Club jury will select 4-6 artists to visit the club, view the existing portrait, and discuss the project. The jury will then select one artist to complete the portrait. If you are interested email Andy Witt of the Cultural Council, no later than Aug. 1, 2011.
