Call for Artists for Fall 2011
The Art Newspaper online story about Art.sy
Found this fascinating article I wanted to share with fellow artists. The writer has stated this may be the "Holy Grail of Private Market Prices"... Written by Charlotte Burns in The Art Newspaper this month June 2011. Art.sy has some big galleries and other high profile backers, which I believe will make it a successful venture. It's important to be "in the know" especially if more galleries and online sites follow this new marketing model for art. Here is the link to the story.

Art Festival Finlay Park July 2 Booths Available
Applications are now being accepted for vendors for the Independence Day Weekend Arts & Crafts Festival. The event will be held Saturday, July 2nd at Finlay Park Columbia, SC starting at 1pm. The fair coincides with the Summer Concert Series in the park, and vendors are welcome to stay through the concert and fireworks (approximate ending time 10:15pm); booths must stay open until 6pm.
Only hand crafted items may be sold at the festival. No resell/flea market items will be allowed. You may not have raffles at your booth spaces. You may not “save” booth spaces for other vendors that will arrive after you. We reserve the right to disallow sales for violators of these rules.
A special parking area will be provided for all vendor vehicles, close to the booth area. Booth spaces are available on a first come first serve basis; we recommend that all vendors arrive by 10:00 am to setup for festivities to begin at 1:00 pm. Spaces will be marked off for you and someone will come by your booth to check in with you if you should need further assistance. There will be a loading and unloading area. The park and loading/unloading areas will need to be cleared by 12:00 noon. After 12:00 pm we will not be able to facilitate you with an area to unload.
Please note that electricity is very limited. Commercial generators are allowed, but must be diesel fueled (no personal gas generators, per Columbia Fire Dept. regulations) If you have further questions and would like a vendor form, please contact Joan Sorensen at (803) 545-3091 or jmsorensen@columbiasc.net
Booth space is 10’ x 10’. Vendors are responsible for providing their own tables, tent, and other supplies. Booths must be kept clean and orderly throughout the event. $20.00 fee for single space. Electrical access is an additional $20.00 fee and is very limited. Vendors are responsible for bringing their own extension cords and electrical access will be provided on first come, first serve basis.
Setup begins at 9:00 am on the day of the event. Selection of booth space is on first come, first serve basis that morning. Items should be unloaded and vehicles moved out of the area as quickly as possible. All vehicles MUST be moved out of the area by 12:00 pm – No Exceptions.
Cancellation Policy: Any Vendor who does not show for the event will lose their fee and their space will be released.

Artist Studio Space for rent in Columbia SC
Sent by Chappy Manning of TAG
I've been advised of an opportunity to lease some studio space on Carlisle St. (cut-through between Daly and Millwood, behind Mad Platter), and in order to keep the costs $200 range (includes utilities) we need some more artists interested in sharing the space. Would you be able to send out an email to TAG members asking if anyone is interested? There are 2 options, one space smaller than the other, the smaller one has 1 bathroom & 2 large rooms so we're looking for 4 artists to share, the larger space has several different rooms & 2 baths and could hold 6-7 artists' spaces.
Please contact me directly at cmanning13@sc.rr.com. So far, there are 2 of us who are willing to commit, but as I say, we need more to make it affordable.Chappy
